Hardi-backer part 2
After 4 boxes of screws, we finally have enough. Chris is having fun trimming the boards for the smaller pieces near the end.
All it takes is a scoring with a utility blade and snap... it breaks in half. Beautiful.
I finish up with the adhesive while he's plowing away with the cordless drill and the screws. They say to put a screw in at every 8" in a grid pattern. The great thing about the Hardi-backer board is it has a grid patter on the top and bullets where the screws go in. No measuring or thinking required. Perfect.
We have 2 cordless drills thanks to our generous friends that went to our wedding, but we've been using the 15 volt drill mostly cuz its lighter. Since there's 2 of us driving screws now, Chris pulls out the big 18 volt drill. This one even has the positionable handle attachment so you can use both hands. AARRH AARRH AARRRRH!!! He loves his new toy. Thanks guys.
I decide to start taping the joints. It needs to dry overnight before we can put the tile on top. We stay longer but we finally get it all done.
Tomorrow.... tile!!! Our friend was going to lend us his wet tile saw to cut the tiles but we figured a scoring tool would be faster. Home Depot has an 18" one with the scoring wheel on a track and all that cool stuff. $32. Is it worth it? Chris' boss said he's got the hand held one and all you need is a straight edge. We'll try that first and see how it goes.
