Surprise, Surprise!
*What I hear of a phone conversation between Chris and his dad.* (about 7pm last night)
-Hi Dad.
-We're at the house.
-Leaving for where? *bewildered look*
-Really? *shrug*
-Are you serious? *anguish*
-You'll be here at 1am? *helpless sigh*
-Melissa says we won't be at the house tomorrow. And I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on Friday.
-I told you that. *frustration* Me to Chris:Ask how long they'll be here.
-How long will you be here?
-TWO WEEKS??!?!?!?
-Okay. *silent scream...NOOOOO!!!!*
-Okay. *acceptance*
-Bye. *defeat*
*hangs up*
Chris to me: My dad said if they don't come up now, they won't have time to help us until next year. He said by the time he's done, we'll be able to park in the garage.
Side note: The garage is like the last thing we were worried about fixing. The living space takes priority. The garage is like a shack. No electric garage door. Maybe no electricity. We're talking big bucks to fix it... or at least to the standard that I'm imagine. We don't know what his dad has in mind. *sigh*
<--chris interjecting on the sidenote-->
My dad asked me a while back what else I wanted him to do with the house. I told him the next big thing was the garage because I know he won't paint and the driveway will have to be contracted. What else would he do now? Do you know how to fix the garage? I don't either.<-- end interjection -->
*Conversation between Me and Chris later*
M: Why didn't they tell us sooner?
C: I don't know
M: Didn't you call them yesterday and ask when they were coming?
C: Yes. They said they didn't know.
*A little later*
C: When I talked to them yesterday, I told them we took off all the doors to paint, right?
M: Yes. They always ask where we are and what we're doing whenever they call.
C: Hahhahha. They don't have a door on their bedroom.
I guess you know what we'll be doing for the next two weeks.

sorry!!! eric and i feel your pain...my mom called after chris called me to let me know that they will be in san jose early that morning.
my mother-in-law shows up to nick's school to pick him up even when i tell her that we have it covered...she pulls the "i didn't know you were coming" bit. she then proceeds to give him his snack, tries to make sure his homework is done and then tells us that she can take him to practice....
I really feel for you....
tell them you guys need the privacy to make them grandchildren...and they won't ever show up again.
